DALMORE LAUNCHES NEW 12 YEAR OLD EXPRESSION

Whyte & Mackay, has today announced the launch of a new 12 Year Old expression, from its Highlands based Dalmore Distillery.

The Dalmore 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Select (43% ABV) was initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks for ten years, before being finished in specially selected Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, for up to three years.

The Dalmore 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Select, which was created by Master Distiller Richard Paterson, is said to deliver notes of caramelised orange, ginger, sultanas and honey on the nose, followed by notes of dark chocolate, crushed almonds and cinnamon on the palate.

Commenting on the news, Richard Paterson, said: “The 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Select is elegance personified and an excellent addition to our Principal Collection. Its full finish in oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks reveals a more floral, light and refined side to The Dalmore. It is a truly decadent whisky which celebrates the deep-rooted alliances with our cooperage partners to source the most exquisite casks and truly showcase the depth of The Dalmore’s character.”

The Dalmore 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Select, is now available from The Whisky Shop in the UK, for a RRP of £69.99. The new bottling is also available across major Asian markets including Taiwan and China, and will be available in the US next year.

IRISHMALTS.COM LAUNCHES COLLABORATIVE BOTTLING WITH CLONAKILTY DISTILLERY

Irishmalts.com, has announced the launch of a new cognac finished cask strength expression, in partnership with the Clonakilty Distillery.

Clonakilty Cognac Cask Finish (55.8% ABV) has been produced using a blend of Irish malt (2008) and grain (2010) whiskeys, which were matured in bourbon barrels, before being finished for 22 months in a Cognac cask at Clonakilty's Atlantic Ocean warehouse.

Clonakilty Cognac Cask Finish, is said to deliver notes of hot chocolate, Nutella, coconut and leather on the nose, followed by notes of chocolate, cherries, dried fruits, honey and leather on the palate.

Irishmalts.com was founded by brothers Robert and John O’Donovan to support the rapidly growing Irish spirits business and already boasts a range of over 350 Irish whiskeys, gins and rums, focusing predominantly on independent bonders, blenders and distillers.

Clonakilty Distillery, was established in 2016 by Michael Scully. In March 2019 they opened a new €10 million distillery and visitor experience centre in the heart of Clonakilty town, on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Commenting on the news, John O’Donovan, said: “We are justly proud to release this Cask Strength whiskey exclusively to our loyal customer base. To collaborate with a distillery with Clonakilty’s vision has been very rewarding. TOBERMORY LAUNCHES NEW 23 YEAR OLD BOTTLING

The Tobermory Distillery, has today announced the launch of a new 23 Year Old core range expression.

Tobermory 23 Year Old (46.3% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, which has been matured in Oloroso sherry casks.

This latest release from the Isle of Mull based distillery, marks the return of what was their 15 Year Old bottling, but with an additional eight years of maturation.

Tobermory 23 Year Old, is said to deliver notes of vanilla, ripe oranges, toasted barley and fruitcake on the nose. Followed by notes of salted toffee, candied citrus, floral honey, caramelized walnuts on the palate.

To celebrate the launch, the distillery has collaborated with Mull Silver and Goldsmith on a unique Sterling Silver and Gold quaich, which along with one of the new bottles, will be auctioned off for charity in the coming months.

Commenting on the launch, Julieann Fernandez, Master Blender at Tobermory Distillery, said: “Our team at the distillery have been working hard for many years on the return of this old friend, and we’re incredibly proud to be introducing whisky drinkers around the world this exciting addition to the core range. Absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder and the extra years have been spent well, as our whisky has continued to mature into the new sherried expression.”

Tobermory 23 Year Old, will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £320.00.
