SULLIVANS COVE LAUNCHES ITS LATEST DOUBLE CASK BOTTLING

The Sullivans Cove distillery, has today announced the launch of its latest Double Cask, single malt whisky bottling.

Sullivans Cove Double Cask DC104 (45.% ABV) has been produced using whiskies matured between ten and fourteen years, in a combination of French oak ex-tawny casks and American oak ex-bourbon barrels.

This latest release from the Tasmania based distillery, is said to deliver notes of toffee apple, brown sugar, buttery shortbread, orange marmalade and tropical fruit. Followed by notes of berry pie, caramel fudge, orchard fruits and oaky spice on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Heather Tillott, Head Distiller, said: "This whisky is super mellow and easy to drink, but incredibly interesting and complex at the same time. We've used smaller portions of a wide range of casks for this batch, giving us a broader colour palate to work with and really upping the level of complexity."

Sullivans Cove Double Cask DC104, is now available directly from the Sullivans Cove online store, for a RRP $220 AUD. Limited to one bottle per customer.

DEKANTA LAUNCHES NEW LIMITED EDITION KARUIZAWA JAPANESE WHISKY SET

Japanese whisky specialist Dekantā, has announced the launch of 30 limited-edition sets, of single malt whisky from the Karuizawa distillery.

The Karuizawa 1999-2000 ‘Koinobori’ Series (60.7% ABV) has been produced using a range of vintage whiskies matured in a variety of different casks.

Each bottle in the series from the distillery which closed in 2000, carries a limited-edition design depicting the Koinobori carp, which is a symbol of good fortune in Japan.

During some of the country’s most prominent festivals, Koinobori will be seen on the outside of houses in Japan, in honour of the family, to bring good fortune, health and strength.

Commenting on the news, Makiyo Masa, Founder and Director of dekantā, said: “The flavour profile on this whisky is one of the most complex found among Karuizawa expressions. We feel that the beautiful Koinobori design, a potent symbol of family and good fortune here in Japan, is a fitting palace to house the fine whisky within.”

NC'NEAN DISTILLERY LAUNCHES £1M CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN

The Nc’nean Distillery, on the Morvern peninsula in Scotland, has today announced that it is launched a £1M crowdfunding campaign, to help accelerate its current growth plans.

The investment will support the launch their first whisky in 2020, as well as buying bottling equipment and support further portfolio expansion.

Founded by Annabel Thomas and Derek Lewis in 2013, Nc’nean is an organic distillery with a strong sustainable ethos and innovative approach to spirit making, which currently produces a range of botanical spirits.

Nc’nean’s botanical spirits, were included in the ‘Top 10 Most Innovative New Spirits’ in 2018 by the Spirits Business. The distillery itself was also recently listed first in the article “Ten of the Best Whisky Tours in Scotland” by the Guardian.
