The Cuban rum brand Eminente, has today announced the launch of a new aged-stated expression.
Eminente Gran Reserva Edition N°1 (43.5% ABV) which is a 10
Year Old Cuban rum made with 80% aguardientes (sugarcane eaux-de-vie) was initially
matured in ex-whisky barrels, before being finished for three months is French
oak barrels.

Referred to as the ‘soul of Cuban rum’, aguardientes are the most flavourful and complex sugarcane eaux-de-vie that are created on the ‘Isla del Cocodrilo’ – at Eminente these are made from molasses distilled to 75% ABV and then aged in white oak barrels that were once used for ageing whisky. After this, the aged aguardientes are blended and aged again with traditional light Cuban rum distilled to 95% ABV.
Eminente’s creator, César Martí - the youngest Maestro Ronero to ever be
given the title in Cuba after just nine years - is renowned for having mastered
the art of ageing and blending aguardientes with his previous much-celebrated expressions;
Eminente Amber Claro and Eminente Reserva.
Martí has spent years experimenting with various ageing
processes for aguardientes in different environments and barrels. His latest
experiment led him to craft the first edition of Eminente Gran Reserva Edition
N°1 - a 10 Year Old Cuban rum with a three-month finish in French oak barrels.
Eminente Gran Reserva Edition N°1, is said to deliver notes
of roasted coffee, red fruits, flowers, honey, vanilla and a minty freshness on
the nose. Followed by notes of dried apricot, orange blossom, sandalwood,
hazelnut and allspice on the palate.

specialist retailers for a RRP of £75.00.
