BENROMACH LAUNCHES NEW CONTRASTS RANGE BOTTLING

The Benromach Distillery, has today announced the launch of a new single malt Scotch whisky expression, from its Contrasts range.

Benromach Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured (46% ABV) which was produced using malted barley with a peat smoke level of 55ppm, was matured exclusively in first-fill Sherry hogshead casks.

Laid down to mature in 2012, this latest release from the Speyside based distillery, is said to deliver notes of cinnamon, ginger, rich dark chocolate, demerara sugar, Seville orange peel and sweet smoke on the nose. Followed by notes of cocoa powder, honeycomb, stewed red berries, vanilla, cracked black pepper and toasted almonds on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Keith Cruickshank, Distillery Manager at Benromach, said: “This small batch vintage expression has been created in a style which is deliberately different to the subtle smokiness Benromach is well-known for. This is only the second time we’ve released a heavily sherried peat smoke expression and we’re very proud of its unique flavour profile. Although it is different from the first sherry matured peat smoke expression we released in March 2019, given the enthusiasm we received from whisky fans we expect this release to be very popular.”

Keith went onto say: “Like all expressions in the Benromach range, what always remains consistent is our traditional approach to whisky making. Made by hand for genuine character, our small team of distillers rely entirely on their expertise and senses to make the finest handmade whisky, matured exclusively in first-fill casks.”

Limited to 2,000 bottles in the UK, Benromach Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured, will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £49.99. It will also be available in international markets.
