The Tomatin Distillery has announced the release of a new exclusive travel retail range, which will initially launch across Europe before launching across both the US and Asia.

Tomatin 8 Year Old (40% ABV) has been matured in both bourbon and sherry casks, and is said to deliver aromas of vanilla, sweetened baked apples and pears, followed by a palate of ginger and cinnamon.

Tomatin 12 Year Old (43% ABV) is a 1 litre variant of the distillery’s flagship single malt, which won a double gold award at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits competition.

Tomatin 15 Year Old (46% ABV) has been matured in American oak casks, and is said to deliver aromas of citrus fruits and flavours of honey and toffee.

Tomatin 40 Year Old (43% ABV) has been matured in Oloroso Sherry casks, and is said to be a smooth and rounded triumph of dark and tropical fruits resulting in a big and fruity finish with just a touch of oak.

In addition to its branded Tomatin bottlings, the Highland distiller will also be launching a 1 Litre variant of its standard Cù Bòcan, peated single malt into travel retail.

Commenting on the news, Stephen Bremner, Sales Director at Tomatin, said: “We have been working on a strategy to establish our presence in the travel retail market for some time now in response to growing demand for Tomatin single malt on a global level.  While the majority of Scotch brands have elected to present no-age statement duty free ranges, our collection of age statement whiskies provides a point of difference. This is a priority market for us as it provides an introduction to Tomatin for thousands of globe-trotters so we wanted to create a range that caters for all tastes and budgets, whether you’re a whisky novice or a high-end collector.”

He went on to say: “The range is already en route to several airports and we look forward to seeing the brand in airports across Europe over the coming months.  There’s great potential in each of these markets and we hope that the success we have seen recently with our core range will be mirrored within travel retail, with sales of the core Tomatin range increasing dramatically over the past few years.  We have seen sales growth of 60% in our branded goods over the last 4 years and currently exports make up 92% of our business.  It’s an encouraging sign for the future.”

Tomatin 8, 12, 15 and 40 Year Old expressions, will be available through travel retail for the respective RRP’s of €35.00, €41.50, €55.00 and €1,250.
