SPIRIT OF YORKSHIRE DISTILLERY LAUNCHES ITS SECOND SINGLE MALT RELEASE

Filey Bay Second Release, which is the next step of the Hunmanby based distillery's journey to its flagship single malt, is said to deliver notes of citrus, vanilla ice cream, caramel, biscuit and honey.

Commenting on the launch, Joe Clark, Spirit of Yorkshire's Whisky Director, said: "It was great to spend the time in the warehouse and discover how well our spirit is maturing. It means that we've been able to launch our Second Release a little earlier than planned, which was fortunate as our First Release has sold quicker than expected!”

He went onto say: “Filey Bay Second Release is a true evolution of our First Release. The 'inputs' are very similar, leading to a house style that is light and fruity - this is something that we've worked hard and purposefully to create. The difference comes from that extra maturation time. There's a little more depth to this Second Release and for me that not only makes it a delicious whisky, but it's also an incredibly exciting indicator as to what's to come in the warehouse."

Limited to 6,000 bottles, Filey Bay Second Release, is now available directly from the distillery and specialist retailers, for a RRP of £55.00.

TOMATIN LAUNCHES ITS LATEST WAREHOUSE 6 COLLECTION BOTTLING

The Tomatin Distillery, has announced the launch of the latest expression in its limited-edition Warehouse 6 Collection.

Tomatin Warehouse 6 Collection: The 1977 (49% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, which is the distillery’s first to be matured in a French Sauternes wine hogshead.

This latest release which was distilled on September 23rd 1977, follows on from its 1971, 1972 and 1975 Warehouse 6 Collection bottlings, and has spent its life maturing in Warehouse 6; a traditional dunnage style warehouse, under the watchful eye of several generations of the distillery workers.

The Sauternes cask, is said to have influenced the whisky over time, resulting in a luxurious fruit led expression, that dances across the palate for a gloriously long finish.

Commenting on the launch, Graham Eunson, Distillery Operations Director at Tomatin, said: “Of the thousands of casks held at Tomatin, we’ve only ever acquired a handful of Sauternes wine casks. Using any one of them, even for one of our oldest and most valuable whiskies wasn’t a decision we made lightly; we knew from the start that it could be difficult to impart the flavours of the wine cask to the whisky without overwhelming it. Despite the immense challenge, I’m pleased to say that our team has produced a truly exceptional whisky that includes notes of apricot, peach, sweet honeysuckle and spice, all enticed from the Sauternes cask’s influence.”

Limited to 390 bottles, Tomatin Warehouse 6 Collection: The 1977, will be available later this month from selected specialist retailers, for a RRP of £3000.00.
