COMPASS BOX LAUNCHES NEW SHERRY CASK INSPIRED LIMITED EDITION BOTTLING

Compass Box, has today announced the launch of a new limited-edition blended malt Scotch whisky, which is said to be inspired by a single extraordinary sherry seasoned cask.

Compass Box Magic Cask (46% ABV) has been produced using a blend of Speyside malt whiskies, with its defining character coming from the inclusion of whisky from a single Sherry seasoned cask.

The single Sherry seasoned cask, was the result of Compass Box re-racking one year old malt spirit into a first fill Oloroso-seasoned butts in 2016. By 2019, one of the casks proved so compelling that they began to experiment, which eventually resulted in the release of the Magic Cask.

This latest Compass Box release, is said to deliver notes of ripe golden dessert apples, toffee, cocoa powder, autumn fruits and dark chocolate.

Commenting on the launch, John Glaser, Compass Box Founder and Whiskymaker, said: “Sometimes just one cask in a blend of many can provide the touch of magic that allows the whole arrangement to sing. We first took advantage of this phenomenon in 2006 when an experimental whisky, finished in an ex-Madeira barrique, led to the Limited Edition bottling we called Magic Cask. We’re delighted to be able to share with you again the magical influence of one exceptional cask – a Sherry-seasoned cask in this case – can have on a recipe.

Limited to 5,538 bottles, Compass Box Magic Cask, will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £145.00.
