Caol Ila is releasing a triple-matured single malt from a vintage distilled in 1998; Caol Ila Fèis Ìle 2015 (57.3% ABV). Initially matured in American Oak, the whisky was then double-matured in Moscatel cask wood, before going through a third gentle maturation in old oak puncheons.

Triple maturation is also a feature of this year’s Lagavulin Fèis Ìle bottling which was distilled in 1991; Lagavulin Fèis Ìle 2015 (59.9% ABV). After a short second maturation in Pedro Ximenez casks, the whisky was then given a lengthy gentle maturation in old oak puncheons.
Commenting on this year’s Fèis Ìle releases, Dr Nick Morgan, Diageo’s Head of Whisky Outreach, said: “Once again we are proud to be able to offer two exceptional whiskies from Lagavulin and Caol Ila for the enjoyment of those visitors who come to celebrate Islay’s great whiskies and whisky-making traditions with us during the Fèis. This year’s releases have been brilliantly put together by our outstanding team of master blenders to offer an unusual and, we hope, very enjoyable perspective on these famous Islay whiskies.”
Both bottlings will be available from each respective distillery during this year’s festival. Limited to 1,500 bottles, the Caol Ila Fèis Ìle release will be priced at £99. Limited to 3,500 bottles, the Lagavulin Fèis Ìle release will be priced at £128.
