J.J. CORRY LAUNCHES NEW COLLABORATIVE LIMITED EDITION BOTTLING

J.J. Corry, has announced the launch of a new limited-edition Irish whiskey, in collaboration with contemporary Irish design houses, J. Hill’s Standard and John Galvin Design.

This latest release from the County Clare based whiskey bonder, comes presented in 100 individually hand cut J. Hill’s Standard crystal decanters and hand carved ash wood cabinets fashioned by John Galvin Design.

Both Irish design houses share a respect for traditional Irish crafts while interpreting them in a contemporary fashion, similar to the ethos of J.J. Corry Irish Whiskey.

Commenting on the launch, Louise McGuane, Founder of J.J. Corry, said: “The Chosen is a celebration of excellence in Irish Whiskey and contemporary Irish design. Irish Whiskey has not been celebrated for its quality and rarity, as perhaps other categories have. We have some of the finest mature stock of whiskey in the world and yet I feel the industry undersells itself. I wanted to change that. Our approach to making Irish Whiskey celebrates tradition, embraces change and has the modern whiskey drinker front of mind.  All of this is reflected in The Chosen”.

She went onto say: “We are curators of casks and creators of individual whiskey flavours. We constantly source and taste, knowing the personality of each cask that we own. Every cask in our custom built rackhouse has a different story and destiny. Occasionally we come across such an exceptional cask that it merits its own unique release and this was the case with The Chosen. We waited until the cask reached its absolute peak of maturation before we released it.”

The Chosen, will be available later this month from Bordeaux Index, Fine & Rare and The Celtic Whiskey Shop, for a RRP of £6,500,00.

HIGHLAND PARK CELEBRATES THREE OF ITS MASTER WHISKY MAKERS WITH NEW SINGLE MALT

Highland Park, has today announced the launch of a new expression which was created by and celebrates three Master Whisky Makers, with over 100 years of experience.

Highland Park Triskelion (45.1% ABV) is a non-age-stated single malt Scotch whisky, which was created using a combination of first-fill sherry seasoned Spanish oak butts, first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks and first-fill bourbon barrels and hogsheads.

Highland Park Triskelion

This latest release from the Orkney based distillery, is said to celebrate the combined wisdom and inspiration of three legendary Highland Park Master Whisky Makers; Gordon Motion, Max McFarlane and John Ramsay.  For the first and only time, their 100 plus years of shared whisky making expertise has come together to create this very special edition.

The Triskelion symbol used in this project represents wisdom and inspiration. In Norse mythology, the Horn Triskelion shows three interlocking horns which is associated with the Mead of Poetry. This magic mead symbolised wisdom and poetic inspiration and was contained in three precious horns guarded by the giantess Gunnloo. All three horns were drunk by the Norse god, Odin, but a few drops spilled into the mortal world and were believed to inspire scholars.

Commenting on the launch, Gordon Motion, Highland Park’s current Master Whisky Maker, said: “It was fun and a real honour to work with John and Max again. We decided to create an unaged single malt as this gave us complete flexibility to consider a whole range of different cask types, flavour profiles as well as ages. To quote John Ramsay ‘You don’t need an age statement to deliver real quality”.

Highland Park Triskelion, will be available later this month from The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop and Master of Malt, for a RRP of £170.00.
