Limited to 3600 bottles, this latest release from the Bacardi owned brand, is said to deliver notes of sweet raisin and hazelnut on the nose, followed by oak, vanilla and caramel notes on the palate.

Commenting on the news, Wes Henderson, Chief Innovation Officer and Founder at Angel's Envy, said: "With our latest Angel's Envy expression, we've taken inspiration from the Venenciador of Spain, whose exacting pull and pour of sherry is required to aerate the liquid in order to reveal its true character. We took a page from that book and chose to let this limited release rest for an extended finishing period in Oloroso sherry barrels, lengthening the oxidation process for a sophisticated level of flavour. We chose Oloroso sherry casks because we believed the nutty notes from the Oloroso Sherry would pair well with our bourbon."

Angel's Envy Bourbon - Finished in Oloroso Sherry Casks, will be available later this month directly from the distillery and specialist retailers in Kentucky, for a RRP of $199.99.

GLENGOYNE LAUNCHES THE FIRST EXPRESSION IN NEW LEGACY SERIES

Ian Macleod Distillers, has today announced the launch the first release from a new annual series of single malt Scotch whiskies, from its Glengoyne Distillery.

Glengoyne Legacy Series: Chapter One

The Glengoyne Legacy Series, is said to showcase the captivating stories of the Highlands based distillery’s history and its people from over the last two centuries.

This first release in the new series, reveals the story of when Glengoyne’s Distillery Manager from 1869, Cochrane Cartwright, arrived at Glengoyne and took the famously unhurried production process, for which Glengoyne is renowned today, to the next level.

Not only did Cartwright slow down distillation to a third of the industry average in order to maximise the sweet, fruity flavours of Glengoyne’s spirit, but it was also critically under his management that sherry casks were first introduced to Glengoyne.

Commenting on the launch, Katy Macanna, Brand Manager for Glengoyne, said: “Glengoyne Distillery is known for its unhurried distillation process and six-year wood journey from tree to cask. The first in our new Legacy Series is a fitting tribute to Cochrane Cartwright and the vital role he played in shaping the award-winning whisky that we remain tremendously proud of today.”

The Glengoyne Legacy Series: Chapter One, will be available from February 18th, via www.glengoyne.com for a RRP of £54.99.
