HYDE WHISKEY LAUNCHES ITS LATEST LIMITED EDITION BOTTLING

Hibernia Distillers, has announced the launch of a new limited-edition expression, from its multi award-winning Hyde Irish whiskey brand.

Hyde #6 Presidents Special Reserve (46% ABV) is a blend of 18 Year Old Irish single malt and 8 Year Old Irish single grain whiskey’s, which have been matured in bourbon casks, before being married together for 9 months in Oloroso sherry casks.

This latest release from the Cork based distillery, is said to deliver notes of vanilla, honey, caramel, chocolate, mixed fruit and spices on the nose, followed by creamy and fruity notes of caramel, honey, apricot and apple on the palate.

Hyde #6 Presidents Special Reserve, has been named in honour of Douglas Hyde, Ireland’s first president, who was inaugurated on 25th June 1938.

Limited to 5,000 bottles, Hyde #6 Presidents Special Reserve, will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of €59.00.

GLENDRONACH LAUNCHES ITS LATEST BATCH OF SINGLE CASK BOTTLINGS

The GlenDronach Distillery, has announced the launch of its fifteenth batch of single cask bottlings, comprised of whiskies aged from twenty-one to twenty-seven years in age.

The six whiskies released in Glendronach’s Single Cask Batch 15, ​have been drawn from either Pedro Ximenez or Oloroso sherry casks. The oldest cask in the batch; 1990 cask #7005 - PX Sherry Puncheon, is 27 years old.

1990 cask #7005 - 27 Year Old / PX Sherry Puncheon (53.4% ABV)
1992 cask #52 - 25 Year Old / Sherry Butt (58.5% ABV)
1992 cask #89 – 25 Year Old / Sherry Butt (57% ABV)
1993 cask #43 - 24 Year Old / Sherry Butt (59.2% ABV)
1994 cask #3379 - 22 Year Old / PX Sherry Puncheon (51.6% ABV)
1995 cask #4418 - 21 Year Old / PX Sherry Puncheon (52.6% ABV)

Commenting on the launch, Rachel Barrie, Whisky Maker at the BenRiach Distillery Co, owner of GlenDronach, said: “Aficionados of The GlenDronach will not be disappointed with this latest Batch, picked from the richest and deepest casks in our earthen-floored warehouses. I am privileged and delighted to see them released from their slumber, for enjoyment by discerning connoisseurs around the world; as time slowly passes, I anticipate the unearthing of more hidden gems.”

WALSH WHISKEY APPOINTS NEW DISTILLERY MANAGER

The Walsh Whiskey Distillery, has announced the appointment of Lisa Ryan, as its new Distillery Manager.

Lisa, who takes over from Aidan Finnegan, previously worked at Waterford Distillery, and will now be responsible for the production of all three styles of Irish whiskey (pot still, malt and grain) at the Walsh Whiskey Distillery in County Carlow.

Commissioned on Easter Sunday in 2016, the distillery is one of the largest in Ireland, with the capacity to produce 8 million bottles of whiskey annually. It features both whiskey distilling systems, pot stills and column stills and is unique, for a large distillery, in being manually operated to allow for greater innovation in the distillation process.

The Walsh Whiskey Distillery, which produces The Irishman and Writers’ Tears brands, is built on the Royal Oak estate, which dates back to 1755, by the banks of the River Barrow.

The distillery which has been specially designed for visitors, will be running several tours each day over the summer.
