The Elgin based Glen Moray Distillery, has announced the launch of a new expression which pays tribute to the Pheonix.
Glen Moray Phoenix Rising (40% ABV) is a non-age-stated single malt Scotch whisky, which was initially matured in Bourbon barrels, before being finished in new charred oak casks.

This latest release which has been finished in new charred oak casks – which are seldom used at the distillery, is a tribute to the Pheonix, which mysteriously burns at the end of its life, before being born anew.
Glen Moray Phoenix Rising, is said to deliver notes of coconut, creamy caramel, milk chocolate and hints of pepper on the nose. Followed by notes of caramel, wood spice, vanilla and sweet ginger on the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Iain Allan, Glen Moray Global Brand Ambassador, said: “Glen Moray Phoenix Rising is our sweet and spicy tribute to the phoenix. Rather like that mythical bird, our new charred oak casks are scorched by fire. And just as the phoenix is reborn from its ashes, these casks bring a whole new spectrum of flavour to life.”
