BUFFALO TRACE LAUNCHES ITS 2023 ANTIQUE COLLECTION

The Kentucky based Buffalo Trace distillery, has announced the launch of its 2023 Antique Collection, which is comprised of five limited-edition whiskeys of various ages, recipes and proofs.

The Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, which launched in 2000, features expressions from George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Handy, Eagle Rare and Sazerac. All of which have been aged and proofed at the pinnacle of their flavour profile to embody the best possible expression of each whiskey.

The 2023 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, which includes the oldest ever Eagle Rare bottling to feature in the series, is comprised of:

Eagle Rare 17 Year Old Bourbon (50.5% ABV) Distilled in the spring of 2004, the whiskey is said to deliver notes of dark chocolate and cherry pie filling on the nose, followed by notes of caramel-drizzled chocolate sponge cake, spice and an earthy cigar box on the palate.

George T. Stagg Bourbon (67.5% ABV) Distilled in the spring of 2008, the whiskey is said to deliver notes of cinnamon, cherry cola, leather on the nose, followed by notes of chocolate and vanilla on the palate.

Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old Rye Whiskey (45% ABV) Produced using whiskey barrels that were filled between the autumn of 2004 and the spring of 2005, the whiskey is said to deliver notes of dried orange, rye grain, clove and aniseed on the nose. Followed by notes of black pepper, vanilla, oak floral honey and tobacco leaf on the palate.

Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye Whiskey (62.5% ABV) Comprised of whiskey barrels aged for over six years, the whiskey is said to deliver notes of orange zest, lemon oil, caramel and hints of pine on the nose. Followed by notes of freshly baked rye bread spread with orange marmalade, honey, light oak and black liquorice on the palate.

William Larue Weller Bourbon (66.8% ABV) Distilled in the spring of 2011, the whiskey is said to deliver notes of dark brown sugar and vanilla beans on the nose, followed by notes of stewed cherry, brown sugar crumble, baking spice and a hint of maple syrup on the palate.

Limited in quantities, the 2023 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, are sold separately and will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of $124.99 each.
