Ireland’s first modern Whiskey Bonder, J.J. Corry, has today
announced the launch of a new limited-edition blended Irish grain whiskey, exclusive to
Selfridges.
J.J. Corry - The ‘O Reilly (46% ABV) is comprised of a blend
of five, nine, ten and eleven-year-old whiskeys from different Irish
distilleries, which have been matured in a combination of ex-Mezcal, ex-Tequila
and ex-Bourbon barrels.
J.J. Corry - The O'Reilly |
J.J. Corry has created an unparalleled library of Irish whiskey flavours with the aim to make outstanding expressions like ‘The O'Reilly’, that showcase the best of Irish whiskey, old and new.
The influence of the mezcal, tequila, and bourbon casks, is
said to bring together an assemblage of flavour that marries the zesty and subtle
honeyed notes of agave with the oak spice and caramel undertones of bourbon.
Commenting on the news, Louise McGuane, J.J. Corry Founder
and CEO, said: “The O Reilly marks our continued experimentation around casks
seasoned with agave-based spirits. We’ve named it in honour of John Patrick O
Reilly the leader of the Saint Patricks Batallion, a group of Irish Soldiers
who defected from the American army to fight on the side of Mexico in the Mexican/American
war in the late 1800’s. The Battalion are celebrated every St Patrick’s day in
Mexico and we felt this was a firring tribute.”
Limited to 133 bottles, J.J. Corry - The ‘O Reilly, is now
available online and in-store at Selfridges, for a RRP of £125.00.
