Each special promotional bottle will have a label that includes a unique code, which when uploaded online, will allow consumers to enter into a monthly draw, up until 31st December 2019.

The Whyte & Mackay Rare 50 Year Old (44.6% ABV) which was matured in a combination of Bourbon barrels, first-fill and second-fill Matusalem Sherry butts, Tawny Port pipes and ex 30 Year Old Apostoles Sherry butts, was awarded ‘Gold outstanding’ at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2019.

Commenting on the news, Ruairi Perry, Head of Blended Whisky Brands, said: “We’ve been making award winning whisky since 1844 and this expression is, by far, the most complex and amazing blend we’ve ever bottled. It’s extremely rare to find a 50 year old blended whisky of this calibre. It’s new territory for us as whisky makers. We wanted to celebrate 175 years with those that enjoy Whyte & Mackay. It’s only available to shoppers that enter the competition. We’re incredibly proud to be able to share this special-edition whisky and look forward to a further 175 years of whisky-making from Glasgow”.

Earlier this year, Whyte & Mackay unveiled a new look bottle for its blended Scotch whisky and launched Whyte & Mackay Light; a spirit drink bottled at a lower 21.5% ABV.
