SMWS ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF A TRIO OF FEIS ILE LIMITED EDITIONS

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, has announced the release of three new exclusive Islay bottlings, which will be officially launched during this year’s Fèis Ìle.

Celebrating its presence at the Islay Festival of Music and Malt, between May 26th and June 3rd, the society will be launching a trio of peated single cask expressions, aged 10, 20 and 21 years old in age.

SMWS ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ (59% ABV) is a 10 Year Old single malt, Limited to 186 bottles, produced using a second-fill ex-bourbon barrel, from the Society’s Heavily Peated flavour profile, described as having notes of “old first aid kits and sweet hot smoked salmon”.

SMWS ‘Sweet Smoke on the Water’ (54.2% ABV) is a 20 Year Old single malt, Limited to 252 bottles, matured in a second-fill French hogshead, from the Society’s Peated flavour profile, described as having notes of “smoked duck and ribs with sticky glaze”.

SMWS ‘Jazzy Jousting Hastlitude’ (51.6% ABV) is a 21 Year Old single malt, Limited to 228 bottles, matured in a first-fill American oak Pedro Ximenez hogshead, from the Society’s Peated flavour profile, described as having notes of “tarte tatin, treacle toffee, herbal smoke”.

Commenting on the launch, Helen Stewart, Senior Brand Manager for the Society, said: “The eyes of the whisky world will be focused on Islay for Fèis Ìle and we wanted to release some incredible single cask whiskies in honour of the event. These three special whiskies reflect the variety of flavours within our Peated and Heavily Peated flavour profiles and are sure to appeal to fans of peaty Islay whisky.”

All three bottles, will be available online from the SMWS website and at the society’s venues in the UK, from June 1st. RRP’s tbc.
