Whyte & Mackay, has announced the launch of its latest
annual limited-edition 16 Year Old bottling, from its Fettercairn Distillery.
Fettercairn 16 Year Old 2022 Edition (46.4% ABV) which is
the third bottling in the series, is said to offer a taste of the Aberdeenshire
distillery’s distinctive tropical house style, whilst exploring the influence
of a unique finish.
Fettercairn 16 Year Old 2022 Edition |
This latest release in the series which launched in 2020, is a single malt Scotch whisky, which was initially matured in first fill Oloroso Sherry casks, before being finished in first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and ex Bourbon barrels.
This specially selected trilogy of casks are said to
illustrate Fettercairn Distillery’s curiosity - seeking to create and evolve
flavour with each new release.
Fettercairn 16 Year Old 2022 Edition, is said to deliver
notes of dried exotic fruits, lightly syruped figs, grapefruit and mature oak
on the nose, followed by notes of raisins, ripe guava, patisserie spices, cocoa
and vanilla on the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Greg Glass, Master Whisky Maker,
said: “In creating this recipe, selecting these casks, I set out to further
explore the boundaries of what we can achieve at Fettercairn in our quest for
true distinction whilst continuing to deliver on the tropical house character
that defines Fettercairn. Once again,
the result is a very special, one-off creation that will never be repeated. The challenge was to fine tune the balance of
cask influence that would deliver the unique profile I was looking for. A
unique drinking experience, which, with accentuated flavour characteristics,
define Fettercairn.”
Fettercairn 16 Year Old 2022 Edition, will be available
later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £72.00.
