GLENDRONACH LAUNCHES ITS NINTH CASK STRENGTH BATCH BOTTLING

The GlenDronach Distillery, has announced the launch of the ninth limited-edition release, of its Cask Strength Highland single malt Scotch whisky.

GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 9 (59.4% ABV) was matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez puncheons and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía.

As with all GlenDronach’s Cask Strength releases, Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie, individually selected and married together the sherry casks before they were bottled at natural cask strength.

GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 9, is said to deliver notes of cocoa, liquorice root, baked orange, sultana bread and crème brûlée on the nose. Followed by notes of treacle toffee, raisin-filled toasted brioche, baked apple, bramble pie, butterscotch and star anise on the palate.

Commenting on the news, Dr Rachel Barrie, said: “The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 9 is incredibly rich and full-bodied; the result of years of slow maturation in Pedro Ximénez puncheons and Oloroso sherry butts. Add a drop or two of water to reveal a cornucopia of flavour from treacle toffee and raisin-filled toasted brioche, to baked apple and bramble pie and star anise. This crescendos into a lingering dark chocolate, espresso coffee finish. The depth of this Highland Single Malt’s character is boundless.”

GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 9, will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £72.00.
