W.D O'Connell launches two new Irish single malts |
W.D. O’Connell The Bill Phil Batch 02, which follows on from the success of the previous bottling named after the company founder’s Great Grandfather, William Phillip O’Connell, was distilled at the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, County Louth.
W.D. O’Connell 12 Year Old Sherry Single Cask, which is the
first bottling in a new Sherry series, was distilled in December 2008, at
Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim.
Commenting on the news, Daithà O’Connell, Founder of W.D.
O’Connell Whiskey Merchants, said: “It has been an exciting first year in
business and to end it with these releases is very exciting. The all Sherry single
cask is a very special bottling that encompasses the very reasons I wanted to
be an independent bottler. Finding this gem sitting in a warehouse is very
exciting. And of course, when Bill Phil hit the market last December we really
didn't know how ready Ireland was for a peated single malt offering and now
here we after two single casks we are on our second Batch of it and will be
hitting some large export markets with it in 2021".
W.D. O’Connell The Bill Phil Batch 02, which is limited to
600 bottles, and W.D. O’Connell 12 Year Old Sherry Single Cask, which is
limited to 350 bottles, will be available from wdoconnell.com and selected specialist
retailers in Ireland from December 16th, for the respective RRP’s of €65.00 and
€140.00.
