BENRIACH LAUNCHES NEW PEATED CASK STRENGTH SERIES

The multi-award winning, Elgin based BenRiach Distillery Company, has announced the launch of the first batch of its new peated, cask strength single malt whisky.

BenRiach Peated Cask Strength – Batch 1 (56% ABV) has been made using heavily peated malted barley and matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry casks and bourbon barrels.

This latest release from the Speyside based distillery, follows on from the brands Cask Strength Batch 1 bottling, which was launched last March, to showcase the straight from the cask, raw style of the distillery.

Natural in colour and non-chill filtered, BenRiach Peated Cask Strength – Batch 1, is said to deliver notes of butterscotch drizzled over campfire-roasted apples, white pepper, earthy oak and peat on the nose. Followed by notes of toasted oak, toffee apples, ripe nectarines, heather smoke, Scottish tablet and rich stewed barley on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Stewart Buchanan, Global Brand Ambassador for The BenRiach Distillery Co, said: “Our new Peated Cask Strength Batch 1 is an exciting first for the distillery. Made with heavily peated malted barley to produce a unique, smoky expression, it also captures the Speyside character of BenRiach. Luscious and smooth, the peat is beautifully balanced with our delicious Speyside notes, and this whisky is a wonderful addition to any malt collectors’ portfolio.”

Last month, the Brown-Forman owned company, announced the appointment of Rachel Barrie as its new Whisky Maker. Rachel took over from Billy Walker who helped grow The BenRiach Distillery Company, and energize its three (BenRiach, GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh) distilleries over the last 13 years.

BenRiach Peated Cask Strength – Batch 1, will be available next month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £61.99.
