The ten finalists battled it out at London’s Voltaire bar, showcasing a signature serve using a choice of Glenfiddich 12 Year Old, Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Vat or Glenfiddich 18 Year Old. The bartenders then had to take part in a quick fire buzzer round which tested their knowledge of the extensive world of malt whisky.

The other nine finalists were: Kieron Hall from Bonbar in Newcastle upon Tyne, Aiden Page from the Carmelite Hotel in Aberdeen, Alix Nardella from the Mission E2 in London, Manachain Monaghan from the Monk Cocktail Bar in Buxton, Dan Berger from the Ace Hotel in London, Bartosz Kowalski from the Union Street Café in London, Mark Barrett from Cringletie House in Edinburgh, Nicholas Gilmour from The Tippling House in Aberdeen and Stephen Rutherford from the Orchid in Aberdeen.

Judges for the contest included the UK’s Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador Mark Thomson, Director of Prestige at William Grant & Sons Kirsten Grant Meikle, Editor of The Cocktail Lover Gary Sharpen and Ali Reynolds the 2014 Glenfiddich Malt Mastermind winner.

In addition to this year’s prize of £1,000 and a VIP trip to the Glenfiddich Distillery, the brand will also work with Michael to showcase his winning signature serve at brand events throughout 2016.
