The award which is their third World Whiskies Award, was for their limited edition Velvet Fig bottling, which was released in late 2014.

Wemyss Malts Velvet Fig, is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and like the rest of the Wemyss blended malts selection is named after the whisky's natural flavours and aromas.
Commenting on the award, William Wemyss, Founder and Managing Director at Wemyss Malts, said: “This award for "Velvet Fig" is a great start to Wemyss Malts' 10th anniversary year. Velvet Fig has been enormously popular for us and bottles can still be found in specialist retail and online whisky stores.”
Wemyss Malts have collected the World Whiskies Award for Best Blended Malt Scotch Whisky twice before: The Hive in 2012 and Spice King in 2013. Peat Chimney won the bronze award in 2014.
