The Kentucky based Woodford Reserve Distillery, has announced the launch of its latest
limited-edition release from its annual Distillery Series.
Woodford Reserve Toasted Bourbon (45.2% ABV) is a Kentucky
Straight Bourbon, which was matured in heavily toasted and lightly charred
American oak barrels.

In 2017, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked barrels were accidentally delivered to the distillery and filled with new-make bourbon distillate. Unlike standard bourbon barrels, which are lightly toasted and heavily charred, the Double Oaked barrels are heavily toasted and lightly charred.
After 18 barrels were filled, the distillery team noticed
they had the wrong barrel. But Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall decided to keep
the barrels and see how the whiskey matured. They were moved to historic
Warehouse C where the flavour development was closely monitored for more than
six years.
Woodford Reserve Toasted Bourbon, is said to deliver notes
of sweet toasted oak, cinnamon graham cracker, dark cherry, cooked banana and nutmeg
on the nose. Followed by notes of cinnamon brown sugar, raw honey, baking spice
and toasted oak on the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Elizabeth McCall, said: “Toasted
Bourbon resulted in a delicious whiskey that blends the flavour profile of both
Woodford Reserve’s Bourbon and Double Oaked. After more than six years of
patiently waiting, we’re thrilled to share this one-of-a-kind bourbon with our
fans.”
Woodford Reserve Toasted Bourbon, is now available from the distillery ahead of being released in limited quantities at selected retailers in Kentucky, for a RRP of $64.99.
