Glenglassaugh launches new old and rare single cask collection |
Taking its name from the precious serpentine marble found in the cliffs surrounding the Glenglassaugh Distillery, The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection is comprised of:
Glenglassaugh Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection 48 Year Old
(46.1% ABV) is a single a single malt Scotch whisky, which was distilled on May
28th 1974, and matured in an Aleatico Red wine barrique.
Glenglassaugh Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection 49 Year Old
(42.1% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, which was distilled on November 9th
197, and matured in a Bourbon barrel.
Glenglassaugh Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection 51 Year Old
(44.2% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, which was distilled on October 25th
1972, and matured in a Oloroso Sherry puncheon.
Commenting on the launch, Rachel Barrie, Master Blender at
Glenglassaugh Distillery, said: “The legacy of our most sought after casks date
back to the 1970s when these precious liquids were first laid down, patiently
harnessing rich natural colour and sublime character, naturally forming the
apex of our single malt whisky. It is extremely rare to find casks which have
been left to mature in coastal locations for such a long period of time, and
our warehouses, perched on cliffs overlooking Sandend Bay, have acted as the
custodians of this old and rare liquid for over five decades. These casks give
a unique insight into the nature of whisky making at the distillery before it
was closed and capture a moment in time like few other expressions can.”
Glenglassaugh Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection 48 Year
Old, 49 Year Old and 51 Year Old are now available in Singapore, ahead of
rolling out globally this spring, for the respective RRP’s of £7,500, £8,300
and £10,600. Further releases will be announced later this year.
