Ian Macleod Distillers, has today announced the launch of the latest limited-edition Teapot Dram bottling, from its Glengoyne Distillery.
Glengoyne Teapot Dram - Batch No. 008 (59% ABV) is a single
malt Scotch whisky, which has been matured in first fill European and American
oak sherry casks.

The Teapot Dram series has been created in tribute to an old Glengoyne Distillery tradition: until the 1970s, workers would be given three fingers of whisky, three times each day. Most distilleries gave their teams new make spirit, but not Glengoyne.
At Glengoyne, whisky from first fill Oloroso sherry casks
was chosen for the distillery workers’ drams. The less seasoned stillmen would,
to save face, discreetly pour some of their untouched drams into a copper
teapot which sat on the canteen windowsill, ready for their older colleagues.
This latest release from the Highlands based distillery, is
said to deliver notes of Demerara sugar, stewed red apples, dark chocolate,
ginger, clove, soft old leather and floral notes on the nose. Followed by notes
of warming spice, velvety and mouth coating, prunes, dry sherry and soft oak on
the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Barbara Turing, Brand Manager at
Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “We’re delighted to unveil the latest instalment
of our ever-popular Teapot Dram series just in time for the festive period. Similar
to the seven batches before it, No. 008 boasts its own bold and unique
character. First fill European and American sherry casks give it a luscious
dark copper colour and a rich, mouth-coating palate of cooked apple, subtle
spice and soft oak.”
Limited to 3,000 bottles, Glengoyne Teapot Dram - Batch No.
008, will be available later this month from the distillery’s online shop, for
a RRP of £120.00.
