Diageo, has today announced the launch of its annual limited-edition, Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival bottling.
Lagavulin Jazz 2021 (54.8% ABV) is a 13 Year Old cask
strength Islay single malt Scotch whisky, which was initially matured in refill
American Oak barrels, before being finished in ex-Mezcal American standard barrels.

This latest release, which is the first Lagavulin to be finished in ex-Mezcal casks, is said to deliver smoky-meaty aromas, along with linseed oil and fragrant smoke on the nose. Followed by notes of smoke, spicy wood and smoke-dried Jalapeno pepper on the palate.
The Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival will return for its 23rd edition
in an online celebration between Friday 19th and Sunday 21st of November. The
crème de la crème of the Scottish jazz music scene will travel to Islay to
record a number of one-off concerts in the unique setting of Lagavulin’s Malt
Mill which will be broadcast online throughout the festival weekend.

adored since its launch in2011 and the annual release of the exclusive bottling
for the festival has become a key moment in the whisky calendar. This year’s
13year old bottle is a fantastic Lagavulin expression, selected to make every
whisky aficionado experience the unexpected from Lagavulin. The first Lagavulin
to be finished in Mezcal casks with a distinctive and unusual flavour profile is
sure to intrigue and excite Lagavulin fans and beyond.”
Limited to 3,000 bottles, Lagavulin Jazz 2021, will be
available from November 18th via the distillery shop and malts.com for a RRP of
£160.00.
