Scotch whisky specialist Douglas Laing & Co, has announced the launch of a new single cask expression, from its Epicurean Wood Series.
The Epicurean Rivesaltes Finish Limited Edition (48% ABV) is a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky, which was initially matured in American oak barrels, before being finished in French Rivesaltes wine casks for more than 12 months.

The Epicurean Rivesaltes Finish Limited Edition, which is the third release in the brands Wood Series, is said to have a sweet, honeyed style, with notes of sugared cereal, milk chocolate, hazelnuts and crystallised citrus fruits.
The Epicurean range, seeks to demonstrate that flavour is created throughout the whisky-making process, but most significantly during the interaction between the spirit and the casks it’s matured in.
Commenting on the news, Chris Leggat, Managing Director at Douglas Laing & Co, said: “The Epicurean brand is growing well – its spirit quality coupled with its versatile style is increasingly recognised but from time to time, we like to experiment and innovate with this Malt as it lends itself so well to cask finishes. The cask and the Whisky add their own unique personalities and with this Rivesaltes finish, the outcome is a balanced marriage of cask and spirit character – we are delighted with the result.”
The Epicurean Rivesaltes Finish Limited Edition, will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £59.99.
