Brown-Forman, has announced the launch of the latest 117
Series bottling, from its Kentucky based Old Forester brand.
Old Forester 117 Series – Extra Extra Old (46.5% ABV) has
been produced using the brands 1910 Kentucky straight Bourbon, which was
matured in a secondary American oak barrel for 24 months.
Old Forester 117 Series - Extra Extra Old |
This limited-edition series, commemorates an important moment in Old Forester history. On October 22, 1910, a fire on the bottling line halted the production of Old Forester. Mature whisky ready to be bottled was instead stored in a second barrel. What emerged was said to be a delightful whisky, remarkable enough to become an entirely new expression.
Old Forester 117 Series – Extra Extra Old, is said to
deliver notes of roasted coffee, rich maple syrup, dark chocolate, caramel, toasted
coconut, fruit, and a smoky char on the nose. Followed by notes of rich mocha
coffee, brandy and dark cherry on the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Master Taster Melissa Rift, Master
Taster at Old Forester, said: "This expression was born from a creative
and innovative experiment while staying true to the classic taste which sets
Old Forester apart. Although I only joined Old Forester last month, this was
one of the first new limited expressions I was honoured to taste – and the extra-long
double barrelling leads to an explosion of flavours."
Old Forester 117 Series – Extra Extra Old, will be available
this month from the distillery’s shop and online store. RRP (tbc).
