FETTERCAIRN LAUNCHES NEW 18 YEAR OLD SCOTTISH OAK FINISHED EXPRESSION

The Fettercairn Distillery, has today announced the launch of the first annual release from its new Scottish Oak Programme.

Fettercairn 18 Year Old (46.8% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, which was initially matured in American white oak casks, before being finished in 100% Scottish oak barrels, sourced from the Scottish Highlands.

Created by Whyte & Mackay’s whisky maker Gregg Glass, this lasted release from the Highland based distillery is the brands first 18 Year Old expression, and the first to be finished in locally sourced Scottish oak.

Progressive and innovative in style and substance, this latest release is said to celebrate what makes Fettercairn different from the surprisingly tropical-house style achieved by the distinctive copper cooling ring distillation; to their future focused, innovative approach to local sourcing and working with the land in Aberdeenshire – ‘The Garden of Scotland’.

Fettercairn 18 Year Old, is said to deliver notes of sugared almonds, baking spices, passion fruit and guava on the nose. Followed by notes of exotic syruped fruits, patisserie sugars, brioche, spices and berries on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Gregg Glass, Master Whisky Maker, said: “Fettercairn 18 is a culmination of an approach to whisky making I have developed across a number of years. This first release reflects the dedication not just of myself, but of our partners ‘from Forest to Field’, who each played a role in rekindling the skills required to harvest Scottish Oak. At Fettercairn we are passionate about the potential of Scottish Oak and the unique flavour characteristics it offers to the whisky maker.”

Fettercairn 18 Year Old, will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £175.00.
