Colonsay Beverages, has announced the launch of its second Scalasaig ‘Island Hopper’ bottling.
The Scalasaig ‘Island Hopper’ 2013
Tobermory Edition (46.5% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, comprised of
four casks which were all distilled and filled at the Isle of Mull based
distillery.

The casks were married together prior to being filled, into the same sherry hogsheads in which the brand’s inaugural Blended Malt was matured, for an 18 month finishing period.
Named after the little Hebridean port village on the Isle of
Colonsay where the company has its Wild Island Distillery and former brewery, the
Scalasaig ‘Island Hopper’ Scotch whisky brand explores and bottles the best of Scotland’s
island and coastal distilleries.
Commenting on the launch, Keith Bonnington, Company Director
at Colonsay Beverages, said: “We launched our Blended Malt right at the start
of the pandemic so we haven’t been able to get out to our markets anywhere near
as much as we had planned. That said, the response to the Scalasaig brand and
the quality of the liquid has been really encouraging and we expect our Single
Distillery Vintages and Single Cask releases to build even further consumer
interest.”
Keith went onto say: “We have built up our inventory of
casks from a number of island distilleries to explore the different elements of
these whiskies – some are heavily peated, some aren’t peated at all. Some offer
big savoury maritime notes and others are fresh, sweet and light. This is the
beauty of island Scotch Whisky – you’ll never find two exactly the same”.
In addition to the Scalasaig ‘Island Hopper’ brand, over the
last 18 months Keith Bonnington has also launched the first two batches of hugely
successful releases from The Whisky Cellar Private Cellars Selection, and more recently
the first two releases from the new Easy Sipper range, and the resurrection of
the Brig O' Perth blended Scotch whisky brand.
Limited to 1,450 bottles, The Scalasaig ‘Island Hopper’ 2013
Tobermory Edition, will be available later this month from specialist
retailers, for a RRP of £67.00.
