Whyte & Mackay, has today announced the launch of the
first expression from a new collection of small batch single malt whiskies, from
its Fettercairn distillery.
Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No.001 (49.7% ABV) which was
produced using spirit distilled in 2010, was matured in a combination of unseasoned
casks, Sherry seasoned butts, Sherry barrels, ex-Bourbon barrels and Port Pipes.

The first expression from the new Warehouse Collection, which pays homage to the 14 dunnage warehouses where Fettercairn matures its whisky, is said to deliver notes of honey dew melon, Comice pear, gooseberries and freshly baked brioche covered in Scottish heather honey on the nose. Followed by notes of creamy coffee latte, tangy grapefruit segments, spicy apple tart laced with cinnamon and Turkish delight on the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Gregg Glass, Whisky Maker at Whyte
& Mackay, said: “For some time, I’ve wanted to share the secrets and
treasures which lie within our unique dunnage warehouses at Fettercairn. We've had the opportunity to create
something quite special with this new collection that celebrates the treasure
trove of beautiful casks we have at Fettercairn. I’m looking forward to whisky
drinkers discovering these for themselves. The collection means we can also
continue to build on the long history of experimentation and exploration at
Fettercairn, which sits firmly at the heart of the series, whilst also starting
to reveal what might come next from the distillery.”
Limted to 3,600 bottles, Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch
No.001, is now available from the Whisky Shop, ahead of a wider UK and
International launch in the coming months. RRP £55.00.
