Scoring 97.5 out of 100 points, William Larue Weller 128.2 Proof, is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon, which was released as part of the 2017 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It also was awarded Best Bourbon of the Year, in this year’s Whisky Bible.

The Second Finest Whisky of the Year title, was awarded to Glen Grant for its 18 Year Old expression. It also won the awards for Best Scotch Whisky of the Year and Best Single Malt of the Year.
The Third Finest Whisky of the Year title, was awarded to Thomas H Handy Sazerac Rye 127.2 Proof; A Kentucky Straight Rye, which was also part of the 2017 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It was also named Best Rye of the Year.
Other winners included; Single Cask of the Year - Blanton’s Gold Edition Single Barrel, Irish Whiskey of the Year - Redbreast 12 Year Old Cask Strength, European Whisky of the Year - The Norfolk Farmers Single Grain Whisky, Asian Whisky of the Year - Amrut Greedy Angels 8 Year Old and Japanese Whisky of the Year - The Hakushu Paul Rusch.
For the first time, this the 16th edition of the Whisky Bible, which contains nearly 5,000 tasting notes, will also include separate sections for English, Welsh and Australian whisky.
Jim Murray praised the ‘unique brilliance’ of William Larue Weller 128.2 Proof, describing it as ‘the most delicious lesson in whiskey structure imaginable’.
