In 2015, the Teeling family returned to their distilling roots in the Liberties area of Dublin, by opening the first fully operational distillery in the city for over 125 years. The Teeling Brabazon series, takes its name from another family synonymous with the same area of the city, the Brabazons.
From the 16th to 19th century the Brabazon family presided over the Liberties area of Dublin, and it was William Brabazon, the third Earl of Meath, who was granted the right to establish the great trading square at Newmarket.
This was the original industrial suburb of Dublin, with an extensive tradition of brewing, distilling, tanning, weaving and trade in agricultural produce. The mercantile character of the area attracted generations of tradesmen including Walter Teeling, who in 1782 set up the original Teeling Distillery in nearby Marrowbone Lane.
This latest bottling, follows on from the sherry cask matured Teeling Whiskey Brabazon Bottling - Series 1, which was released in May 2017.
Commenting on the launch, Jack Teeling, Founder and Managing Director of Teeling Whiskey, said: “Our aim with our Brabazon Bottling Series is to create full bodied tasting experiences for people who enjoy the added complexity and taste that fortified wine maturation imparts. At the same time, our new bottling continues our goal to expand the spectrum of flavours available from premium Irish whiskeys. The response to our first release exceeded our expectations so we are very excited to see the reaction to our Series 2 Port Cask Bottling.”
Limited to 12,500 bottles, Teeling Brabazon Bottling - Series 2, will be available later this month from Celtic Whiskey Shop, Dublin Airport and specialist retailers in Ireland for a RRP of €78.00.
