Kentucky Owl 11 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey (55.3% ABV) has been produced using a selection of barrels, chosen by Master Blender Dixon Dedman, for their delicate profile and full-flavoured body.

This latest release, which follows on from the launch of Kentucky Owl’s Bourbon Batch #7, is said to deliver notes of vanilla, cloves, lavender, sweet pine and oak on the nose. Followed by notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and vanilla on the palate.
Founded by Charles Mortimer Dedman, Kentucky Owl was originally produced up until 1916, when government agents, compelled by the rising tides of teetotalism, swooped in and hauled some 250,000 gallons of Dedman's stock by barge up the river to be warehoused under lock and key in Kentucky's capital of Frankfort.
Sometime after Prohibition was enacted in 1919, a mysterious fire destroyed the warehouse where Kentucky Owl was being stored. It’s thought that Al Capone or a similar big-time crime boss of the era cut a deal for the contents of the warehouse before it burned down.
In 2008, Charles Mortimer Dedman’s great-great-grandson Dixon Dedman, joined forces with family friends and California winemakers, Mark and Sherri Carter, to bring Kentucky Owl small batch bourbon back to the market.
Commenting on the launch, Dixon Dedman, Kentucky Owl Master Blender, said: "Good rye, to me, is not an everyday pour. It's a sipping whiskey that, at its core, should be thought-provoking and heavy-hitting. We tamed this combination of barrels to make Kentucky Owl Straight Rye Whiskey a bit more approachable to the casual drinker, while still achieving a blast of sensation to the palate and the full-flavored nature that really defines rye whiskies. I'll always make bourbon, but rye's got a place in my heart, too, and I plan to enjoy this one while sitting by the fire."
Kentucky Owl 11 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey, will be available next month in select US markets, for a RRP of $130.00.
