PERNOD RICARD SELLS THE GLENALLACHIE DISTILLERY TO BILLY WALKER LED CONSORTIUM

Pernod Ricard, has announced that it has sold the Glenallachie Distillery, to a consortium headed by former BenRiach Distillery Company Managing Director, Billy Walker, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal also includes MacNair’s and White Heather blended scotch brands, and all relevant inventories to support future development of the brands.

In addition to Billy Walker, the consortium is made up by Graham Stevenson, a Chartered Accountant who has spent almost 30 years in the Scotch whisky industry, and Trisha Savage who has over 30 years’ experience in the Scotch whisky industry, and who was instrumental in establishing and building the BenRiach Distillery Company.

Commenting on the news, the consortium, said: “The mission is to be a wholly Scottish owned, Scottish based, and truly independent Scotch whisky company producing excellent whiskies and offering them to the market at premium but affordable prices.”

The disposal is said to be in line with Pernod Ricard’s strategy to focus on its priority spirits and wines brands and to adjust its industrial footprint to its needs.

The deal is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.
