ELIXIR DISTILLERS ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF TWO NEW KARUIZAWA GOLDEN GEISHA BOTTLINGS

Independent whisky blender and bottler Elixir Distillers, has today announced the launch of two new Karuizawa Japanese whisky bottlings, which will be the first of its rare and valuable bottlings to feature the Prooftag authentication system.

Karuizawa Golden Geisha 33 Year Old (63.4% ABV) is sherry cask matured single cask Japanese whisky that was distilled in 1981, and is limited to 129 bottles. Karuizawa Golden Geishas 31 Year Old (59.4% ABV) is sherry cask matured single cask Japanese whisky that was distilled in 1984, and is limited to 225 bottles.

The Prooftag authentication system which is used by Bordeaux winemakers is not currently widely used in the spirits industry. Each Prooftag seal features a unique code which can be authenticated through the new Elixir Distillers website at ElixirDistillers.com or directly at Prooftag.com. Once a Prooftag seal is broken it cannot be resealed.

Commenting on the launch, Oliver Chilton, Whisky  Maker at Elixir Distillers, said: “With most casks of Karuizawa already released, the Golden Geishas are some of the very few new bottlings coming to market, and it is this rarity that makes them the ideal candidates for our first use of the Prooftag system. Rarity and high demand offers temptation to fraudsters and so our Prooftag system offers the opportunity for buyers to authenticate their bottle, and find out all relevant information about the bottling.”

The Karuizawa Golden Geisha 31 and 33 Year Old’s are now available exclusively via a ballot at thewhiskyexchange.com for the respective RRP’s of £2500,00 and £2750,00.
