PLANNING APPLICATION SUBMITTED FOR FIRST WHISKY DISTILLERY IN NORTH WALES FOR OVER 100 YEARS

Liverpool based drinks producer and distributer Halewood Wines and Spirits, has announced that it has submitted a planning application to Gwynedd council, to build the first whisky distillery in North Wales for over 100 years.

The proposed Aber Falls Distillery, which would be built as part of conversion of an existing 6,000 square meter warehouse site, will be the first distillery to produce whisky in North Wales since the liquidation of the Frongoch Distillery in 1910.

Halewood's drinks portfolio currently includes West Cork & Pogues Irish whiskey brands

In addition to producing craft whisky and gin, the site will also include a visitor’s centre and facilities for training courses in the craft of distilling spirits.

The new distillery, which is hoped to put the local area on the map, will also benefit the community and economy, by bringing new jobs and trade to the area.

If the planning application is successful, Aber Falls Distillery, will be the third operational distillery in Wales, alongside Penderyn in the South and Dà Mhìle in the West.

Halewood Wines and Spirits drinks portfolio currently includes West Cork Irish Whiskey and The Pogues Irish Whiskey.
