BOWMORE LAUNCHES ITS FIFTH AND FINAL BLACK BOTTLING

Bowmore has announced the launch of the fifth, final and oldest bottling in its limited edition Black Bowmore series.

Black Bowmore 50 Year Old (40.9% ABV) was matured for 50 years in first fill Oloroso sherry casks, at the distillery’s legendary No 1 Vaults.

Black Bowmore was first distilled on November 5th 1964, and since its first release in 1993, has become one of the most sought after and collectable single malt Scotch whiskies in the world.

This latest release from the Islay based distillery, is said to be rounded and complex, delivering notes of tropical fruit, honeyed black truffle and signature peat smoke.

Black Bowmore 50 Year Old, comes presented in a handmade Scottish oak case, which includes an interior design made up of five silver contours, representing the passing of time since the whiskies first distillation.

Commenting on the launch, Bowmore Distillery Manager, David Turner, said: “This last cask of Black Bowmore to be rediscovered not only demonstrates the unparalleled depth and quality of our single malts but cements Bowmore as one of the world’s leading whiskies”.

Limited to just 159 bottles, Black Bowmore 50 Year Old, is now available from selected specialist retailers, for a RRP of £16,000.
