TALES OF THE COCKTAIL 2016 SERVES UP BIG LONDON WINS

The Connaught Bar at The Connaught Hotel, along with a host of other London bars, managed to scoop up a string of top awards at this weekend’s 10th annual Tales of the Cocktail - Spirited Awards, held in New Orleans.

Not only did the Mayfair based Connaught Bar take this year’s titles of World’s Best Cocktail Bar and Best International Hotel Bar, there were also big London wins for Happiness Forgets in Hoxton, which was awarded Best International Cocktail Bar, Hawksmoor Spitalfields, which won the accolade of Best International Restaurant Bar and Dandelyan on the Southbank which won the award for the World’s Best Cocktail Menu.

There were also awards for Callooh Callay in Shoreditch, winning the award for Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar, The American Bar at the Savoy, which won the award for Best International Bar Team and Oriole in Smithfield’s, which was awarded Best New International Cocktail Bar.

There were also London based awards in the writing category for ‘The Cocktail Lovers’ which won the accolade of Best Cocktail & Spirits Publication.

Commenting on this year’s awards, Ann Tuennerman, Founder of Tales of the Cocktail, said: “Every year these awards get harder and harder to win as the talent in our industry continues to grow. I want to thank our judges who were up for the tallest of tasks in deciding the best among all the incredible and deserving nominees.”

Now in its 10th year, The Spirited Awards, which are part of the annual series of events at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, have recognized the year’s best bars, bartenders, writers and experts, becoming one the industry’s most prestigious and coveted awards.
