KINGSBARNS DISTILLERY LAUNCHES ITS NEW MAKE SPIRIT

The Kingsbarns Distillery has today announced the launch of its first bottling since it started distilling in January, with the release of its new make spirit.

Scotch whisky has to mature for at least 3 years in oak casks and so the launch of Kingsbarns Spirit Drink (63.5% ABV) will give curious whisky drinkers a unique chance to sample the raw essence of the new distillery in spirit form before it is filled into casks to mature.

The inaugural bottling will be available exclusively from the Kingsbarns Distillery Visitor Centre, which was opened on St Andrews Day 2014 by the Wemyss family owners and the founder, local man Douglas Clement.

Commenting on the launch, Peter Holroyd, Kingsbarns Distillery Manager, said: "It's a great pleasure to share our new spirit with visitors. The spirit itself is an elegant, fruity and floral spirit and I can't wait to see how it is going to develop into Scotch whisky over the coming years. I recommend that water is added to enjoy the fruity flavours at their best."

Kingsbarns Spirit Drink is now available from the distillery in 20cl bottles for £14.95.
