A. SMITH BOWMAN DISTILLERY LAUNCHES HIGH RYE BOURBON

A . Smith Bowman Distillery in Virginia, has announced the launch of a new and very limited bottling in its Abraham Bowman line of expressions, with the release of The Abraham Bowman High Rye Bourbon.

The Abraham Bowman Limited Edition High Rye Bourbon (50% ABV) contains five times more rye than A. Smith Bowman’s standard bourbon recipe and was aged for seven years and nine months in Virginia before being deemed ready to bottle.

This is the twelfth release in the Abraham series, and is part of a collection of limited edition whiskies, named after Abraham Bowman, the commander of the 8th Virginia Regiment in the American Revolutionary War. Each edition of the Abraham line is a different expression and a new release is offered a few times a year.

The Abraham Bowman High Rye Bourbon, is said to have slight peppery notes that open up to sweet vanilla, caramel and toasted oak on the nose. Followed by honey, praline, spices, apples and cherry notes on the palate.

Commenting on the new limited release, Brian Prewitt, Master Distiller at A. Smith Bowman, said: “This high rye bourbon has such a distinct nose and taste profile that I think fans looking for a full-bodied bourbon with lots of spice will really enjoy. It’s been fun to release experiments like these, and we look forward to creating even more interesting  expressions that are a good fit for our Abraham Bowman line in the future.”

The Abraham Bowman Limited Edition High Rye Bourbon, will be available later this month in unspecified limited quantities, mainly in Virginia for a RRP of $69.99.
