TASMANIAN DISTILLERIES LAUNCH LIMITED EDITION COLLABORATIVE BLENDED WHISKY

The Tasmanian Whisky Producers Association, has announced the launch of a new collaborative, limited edition blended expression, made with whiskies from nine different distilleries.

The Tasmanian Collection (46% ABV) is a blended whisky made up of component parts from distilleries including: Sullivans Cove, Lark, Overeem, Belgrove, McHenry, Redlands, Mackey, Iron House and Fanny’s Bay. Each of the participating brands then matured their own twenty-litre cask on site at their respective distillery.

The Tasmanian Collection has been described as snapshot in time of the skills of the Tasmanian whisky industry, which is said to perfectly capture the unique terroir and subtleties gained from maturation in distinctly different surroundings.

The Tasmania Distillery, home to Sullivans Cove, are expecting their cask #TD0776, to yield somewhere between twenty-five and thirty bottles.

The Tasmanian Collection, will be available directly from participating distilleries for a RRP of AU$250.00.

JURA LAUNCHES NEW LIMITED EDITION TO MARK THE RETIREMENT OF ITS DISTILLERY MANAGER

The Jura Distillery has today announced the launch of a new limited edition expression, to help mark the retirement of its celebrated Distillery Manager, Willie Cochrane.

Jura ‘One For The Road’ (47% ABV) is a 22 Year Old single malt, which has been finished in Pinot Noir red wine casks.

Willie Cochrane first arrived on Jura in 1977, with the intention of staying for a year. Though he initially had little knowledge of whisky, he was offered a job in the distillery and soon proved his talent for crafting single malts.

Over the next 39 years, Willie became a celebrated part of the very fabric of Jura, renowned in the industry for his friendliness and expertise and earning prestigious titles for the whisky.  A true ambassador for the brand, Willie has welcomed thousands of visitors from across the globe to the distillery.

The Jura Distillery reopened in the 1960s with the aim of saving the island community and now produces one of the most globally renowned malts in the world. It begins its next chapter with newly promoted Graham Logan at its helm. Graham, a former Jura Mash/Stillman, has worked at Willie’s side for over two decades and hopes to put his own stamp on the distillery, while building its reputation for producing award-winning spirits.

Between September 17th and October 1st, Willie will visit Brussels, Lyon, Hamburg, Paris, Cologne and Stockholm to meet whisky fans and conduct tastings of the new limited edition expression.

Commenting on the news, Willie Cochrane, said: “One of the perks of my job is meeting people who have travelled to the island from far and wide to share their appreciation for whisky with me and the team at the distillery.  Now that I have the opportunity, I can think of no better way to repay the favour than releasing one final expression - one for the road - to share with them.”

Limited to 5,000 bottles, Jura ‘One For The Road’ will be available next month from specialist retailers for a RRP of £120.00.

BOWMORE LAUNCHES DEVIL'S CASKS INSPIRED TRAVEL RETAIL EXCLUSIVE

Beam Suntory has announced the launch of a new limited edition Bowmore travel retail exclusive expression, inspired by the brands Devil’s Casks single malt whisky series.

Bowmore 10 Year Old – Devil’s Casks Inspired Limited Edition (46% ABV) has been produced by the marrying together whiskies that have been matured in both Oloroso sherry casks and red wine barriques.

This latest release from the iconic Islay distillery, is said to deliver notes of figs and raisins which have been influenced by the Oloroso sherry casks, and notes of red grapes, dark chocolate, fudge and spicy dark fruit, influenced by the red wine barriques.

Launched in 2013, the original Bowmore Devil’s Casks series, consisted of three bottlings, which were inspired by the Islay legend of the Devil being chased through the village of Bowmore and into the gates of its distillery. The final bottling in the series was released in October 2015.

Bowmore 10 Year Old – Devil’s Casks Inspired Limited Edition, will be available from September, exclusively through European and Asia Pacific travel retail outlets, for a RRP of £45.00.
