WALSH WHISKEY ANNOUNCES THE SPLIT OF ITS WHISKEY BRANDS AND DISTILLERY BUSINESS

The Walsh Whiskey Distillery, has today announced that it will be demerging its joint venture with Illva Saronno, which will see its whiskey brands and distillery business split with immediate effect.

Current sales, marketing and distilling objectives are being fully met, however the Irish and Italian Directors differ on how to develop the combined business into the future.

The renamed Royal Oak Distillery

Illva Saronno will take full ownership of the County Carlow based distillery, which has now been renamed “Royal Oak Distillery”. The Irish directors will take full control of the existing drinks brands business, which has been built on the Writers’ Tears and The Irishman brands.

Consumers of Writers’ Tears and The Irishman portfolio of brands, are assured of their uninterrupted availability. This business will continue to trade under the name Walsh Whiskey.

The changes which are effective immediately, will not result in any job losses.
