COMPASS BOX LAUNCHES ITS SECOND DELILAH'S BOTTLING

Compass Box, has today announced the launch of a new limited-edition expression, created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the legendary Chicago punk rock whisky bar, Delilah’s.

Compass Box Delilah’s XXV (46% ABV) was built around a parcel of the original Compass Box Delilah’s blend, which was released in 2013, but aged for further five years, and with the addition of malt whisky that was aged in Spanish sherry casks.

Glaser and Miller first collaborated to honour the 20th Anniversary of Delilah’s in 2013, by creating a whisky which was equally suited to being sipped neat and served as a shot with a beer.

The original recipe combined single malt and single grain whiskies aged in a mix of experimental new American oak barrels. While the majority was bottled for the limited-edition release, John Glaser returned a small parcel of this blended Scotch whisky to casks for a further period of maturation. When talks of the bar’s 25th anniversary celebrations began, the pair knew just where to start.

This latest release, which is the result of a second collaboration between Delilah’s owner Mike Miller and Compass Box Founder and Whiskymaker John Glaser, is said to deliver notes of dried fruits, baking spices and a light Sherry wine character on the nose. Followed by soft, rich and complex sweet vanilla and spice led notes on the palate.

Commenting on the new release, John Glaser, said: “Compass Box and Delilah’s share an ethos about doing things you love and on your terms.  This is what brought Mike and me together years ago and it’s why our continued collaboration is so much fun and so gratifying.”

Limited to 8.520 bottles, Compass Box Delilah’s XXV, will be available later this month from specialist retailers, for a RRP of £100.00.
