OLD FORESTER LAUNCHES THE 17TH BATCH OF ITS BIRTHDAY BOURBON

Brown-Forman, has announced the launch of the 17th Birthday Bourbon release, from its Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky brand.

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2017 Edition (47.8% ABV & 48% ABV) was drawn from 12 Year Old barrels from different warehouses and floors on May 27, 2005. 93 barrels were matured together on the 4th floor of G Old Forester’s warehouse. The remaining 27 barrels were matured together on the 5th floor of K warehouse.

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2017 Edition

This year’s limited-edition expression in the series which pays homage to Old Forester’s founder George Garvin Brown, is a mixture of art and science. During the transfer of bourbon from the holding tank to the bottling line, alcohol vapours were lost during bottling, causing the proof to drop. As a result, this year’s Birthday Bourbon will be bottled at two different ABV’s.

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2017 Edition, is said to deliver notes of sweet toasted oak, black pepper, orange oil and toffee on the nose. Followed by notes of oak spice, charred black pepper, chocolate custard and kola nuts on the palate.

The Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2017 Edition, will be available in the US next month, for a RRP of $79.99. The (47.8% ABV - 95.4 proof) variant will be available in Florida and Georgia. The (48% ABV - 96 proof) variant will be available throughout the rest of the US. Both variants will however be available in Kentucky.
