Commissioned on Easter Sunday in 2016, the distillery is one of the largest in Ireland, with the capacity to produce 8 million bottles of whiskey annually. It features both whiskey distilling systems, pot stills and column stills and is unique, for a large distillery, in being manually operated to allow for greater innovation in the distillation process.

The Walsh Whiskey Distillery, which produces The Irishman and Writers’ Tears brands, is built on the Royal Oak estate, which dates back to 1755, by the banks of the River Barrow.

The distillery which has been specially designed for visitors, will be running several tours each day over the summer.
