CONNEMARA LAUNCHES NEW TRAVEL RETAIL EXCLUSIVE BOTTLING

Beam Suntory, has today announced the launch of a new travel retail exclusive bottling, from its Connemara Irish Whiskey brand.

Connemara Turf Mór (46% ABV) is a no age statement, heavily peated - 50ppm, Irish single malt whiskey, which has been matured in ex bourbon casks.

Remaining true to its Gaelic name, which means “Big Peat”, Connemara Turf Mór, is said to deliver a profound peat flavour and a long, full-bodied smoky finish. Neither “classically” Irish nor from the peated homeland of Islay, Connemara has been described as “Islay meets Ireland” as it retains the distinctive approachable taste of Irish whiskey with the smoky taste of Islay single malt whiskies.

Commenting on the launch, Michael Cockram, Beam Suntory Global Marketing Director of Travel Retail, said: “We are proud to represent the only Irish peated whiskey in existence. The launch of a heavily peated malt for Connemara is ground-breaking for the category and Turf Mór reflects Connemara’s use of traditional techniques with a modern twist. The release of Connemara Turf Mór as an exclusive in European travel-retail demonstrates our commitment to offering consumers new and interesting products of the best possible quality.”

Prior to being sold to Beam Suntory, Connemara under its former brand owner Cooley Distillery, previously released a Turf Mór bottling in 2010, which was bottled at 58.2% ABV.

Connemara Turf Mór, will be available later this month from European travel retail outlets, for a RRP of €50.00.
