BUFFALO TRACE ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF ITS 2016 ANTIQUE COLLECTION

Buffalo Trace has announced the launch of its 2016 Antique Collection, comprising of five limited-release whiskeys of various ages, recipes and proofs.

The Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, which launched in 2000, features expressions from George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Handy, Eagle Rare and Sazerac, and has become a cult favourite among whiskey connoisseurs.

George T. Stagg (72.1% ABV) contains bourbon from barrels filled in the spring of 2001. This year’s batch totalled 142 barrels. Two previous releases of this uncut and unfiltered bourbon have been named the number one spirit in the world by F. Paul Pacult from The Spirit Journal.

William Larue Weller (67.7% ABV) contains bourbon that was distilled in the spring of 2003 and aged on the third and sixth floors of Warehouses D, K, and L at the distillery. Previous editions of this bourbon have won the title of “Bourbon of the Year” in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.

Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye (63.1% ABV) was distilled in the spring of 2010 and aged on the fourth, fifth and seventh floors of Warehouses I, K, and M at the distillery. Last year’s edition was named “Best American Rye Whiskey” at the 2016 World Whiskies Awards.

Eagle Rare 17 Year Old (45% ABV) has been aged on the first, second and third floors of Warehouses H and K. at the distillery. Last year’s edition won a “Silver Outstanding Medal” at the 2015 International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old (45% ABV) contains whisky that was filled into barrels in April of 1998, making them the first “new” batch in years not drawn from a stainless steel tank, as pre the previous few releases. Last year’s edition was named “Best Rye Whiskey 11 Years and Older” in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.

The Buffalo Trace 2016 Antique Collection bottlings, will be available later this month from specialist retailers in the US, for a RRP per bottling of $90.00.
