THREE SHIPS LAUNCHES NEW 10 YEAR OLD VINTAGE SOUTH AFRICAN SINGLE MALT WHISKY

Distell has announced the launch of a new limited edition 10 Year Old vintage single malt whisky expression, from its South African brand, Three Ships.

Three Ships 10 Year Old, 2005 Vintage (44.6% ABV) was distilled in 2005, before being matured in American oak barrels for 10 years at the James Sedgwick Distillery.

This latest release from the multi-award winning Wellington based distillery, which is said to deliver rich and complex notes of pepper, spice, sweet oak, roasted malt, digestive biscuits, dark toffee and peat, follows the successful release of their first single malt launched in 2003 and the collector’s tin series over a three-year period in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Commenting on the launch, Andy Watts, Master Distiller at the James Sedgwick Distillery, said: “When we launched South Africa’s first single malt in 2003 we didn’t have a single malt style policy in place and since then we have actively planned towards this moment where we are now in the position to launch a vintage statement single malt, each year and one with a defined style and vision.”

Three Ships 10 Year Old, 2005 Vintage, will be available later this month from specially selected retailers in South Africa for a RRP of R524.95 / £30.00.
