SEATTTLE'S COPPERWORKS DISTILLING LAUNCHES ITS FIRST SINGLE MALT WHISKEY

Seattle based small-batch spirits producer Copperworks Distilling Company, has announced the launch of their first American single malt whiskey.

Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey – Release 001 (52% ABV) has been produced using craft beer brewed from 100 percent pale malted barley which was twice-distilled, before being matured for 30 months in new American oak barrels.

As passionate and experienced brewers, Copperworks co-founders Jason Parker and Micah Nutt, have partnered with local breweries Pike Brewing Company and Elysian Brewing Company, to brew the craft beer used in their whiskey. The beer used for Release 001 was brewed at the Elysian Brewery. Parker and Nutt then fermented the beer at the distillery using a fresh brewer’s yeast to help achieve the desired flavour profile.

Copperworks first single malt whiskey bottling, is said to deliver aromas of honey and black tea, followed by flavours of smoked orange, toffee and black pepper.

Commenting on the launch, Jason Parker, said: “From the very beginning, our plan has been to use our brewing backgrounds to produce an exquisite whiskey in the newly emerging category of American single malt whiskey.”

Limited to 1,005 bottles, the first batch of Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey, will be available exclusively from the distillery from August 27th for $59.89.
